This poster has everything to do with Lord of the Rings Online and nothing to do with an actual event.
My Buddy, Lewis, got me playing it and, recently, I made a Hobbit character. I’ve been running around the Shire, completing all sorts of quests which are mostly errands other Hobbits are too lazy to do themselves. Anyway, one of the quests involves revitalizing a defunct mail system known as the “Quick Post.” This particular quest is known as a “Deed” and requires you to travel as fast as possible (on a timer) from town to town with a bag of mail, hence the heading “The Deed for Speed.”
Other information included on the poster? Middle Earth is where The Lord of the Rings is set. The Mathom Society is an elitist club made up of Hobbits. PM Proudfoot is the Postmaster of the Quick Post, and the names listed below his are Postmen from all the villages of the shire. I selected a few of the Postmen to be Postmen High Grade (PHG) because they’re villages are considerably larger than the others, or feature a horse stable. Why 9th annual? Why not? Direct from track-side because there would presumably be a race to commemorate the event. The Green Dragon Inn is a pub and Inn near the center of the Shire where this even would most likely take place.
Why did I put a sexy barmaid up as a picture instead of the infamous “nosey hobbitses” you must avoid as you carry the mail? Well, if you want people to come to an event, would you show them a picture of a gossiping midget lady or of a sexy woman with beer? I thought so.
BTW, if you think you’ve seen a poster design similar to this one, before, you have. Mad props to OldRedJalopy’s work which this is largely based on.
