My latest commissioned work is an implementation of the client’s ideas, and not so much of my own. This process felt much more like being a forensic sketch artist than a designer. A bit more back and forth than I would like, but, hey, a satisfied customer is a satisfied customer.
So, I finally got the vectors done on this. I’m not ashamed to say that it took a good, long time. Unfortunately, I’m not sure if it’s the lack of sleep or lack of vision, but I’m drawing blanks on composition.
Any help, guys?
Info on the piece:
The saxophone is a Selmer Paris Series III that was [...]
So, last night at trivia, one of the answers was Deepwater Horizon of infamous BP Oil Spill fame. Just hearing the name, again, put an image in my mind and I had to get it out. So, this is pretty much what my head-brain-eye saw.
Well, I guess the whole retro-console-diagramming thing from yesterday might become something of a series with me. I like to find formulas, as blah as that may sound, but it keeps it interesting. Maybe this time I’ll be able to continue a series and develop it as I go along. Already between the last piece [...]
Yes, you read the title correctly. This image is not in my normal dimensions, as you may have noticed. It’s based on l-vanpelt’s work. I tried to think about which console would be the coolest to do first in this style, which lead me to the Famicom Disk System. I made this because of pacalin’s [...]
Yet another poster inspired by a deed in the Shire from the Lord of the Rings Online game.
A Hobbit baked several pies for various other Hobbits throughout the Shire. Unfortunately, after they were all delivered, she realized that the berries used in the pies were rotten. The deed is to run around and collect the [...]
This poster has everything to do with Lord of the Rings Online and nothing to do with an actual event.
My Buddy, Lewis, got me playing it and, recently, I made a Hobbit character. I’ve been running around the Shire, completing all sorts of quests which are mostly errands other Hobbits are too lazy to do [...]
So, I read an article (linked from Reddit) about “The Chemist’s War” during America’s national prohibition of alcohol. Looks like no one talks about it much, but the U.S. Government would poison some alcohol in an effort to deter some citizens from drinking it. This lead to more than one thousand deaths rather than mild [...]
Somewhere on Tumblr, yesterday, I saw a picture of the infamous Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce and had to make something related to it. So, here it is.
Not saying it’s great, or anything, but the background looks kinda cool by itself.
Thanks to the Poluglot Vegetarian blog for giving me info on typography.
I got the idea for this when I was looking up a source on a graphic I saw and liked. The research tracking lead me to a forum that was full of many different photos, .GIF animations and such. I saw the tagline on someone’s signature and decided I had to make a poster. DONE!
This [...]
Yes, yet another graphic done in the style of Stéphane Massa-Bidal’s retro-futuristic designs.
After I made one for Newsweek, I didn’t want to leave Popular Science out of the fun! PopSci will always be awesome in my eyes because of being, well, scientific and geeky, and because of this guy.
I made this to a blanket (and, probably, frivolous) request from Newsweek’s Tumblr blog asking for a Newsweek version of the awesome retro-futuristic covers for nonexistent books based on popular web-based social networks by Stéphane Massa-Bidal. I hope that they like it … or at least look at it :-/
UPDATE: They loved it!
I admit that this graphic is kind of morose, but it’s much more toned down than my original concept. What’s it all about? Well, I can’t really sugar-coat it. It’s about a kid chewing on explosive bubble-gum and blowing his jaw off. Here’s where I first published the graphic and the news.
This was done by the request of @MsPixieRiot for her band “Spinner’s End.” She was very specific in the style that she was looking for. She told me that she wanted something that looked like an old “Sorry, We’re Closed” sign and even sent me a few reference pics to work from. It helped a [...]
A local band asked me to perform with them and I decided to use it as an excuse to try my hand at creating a poster for the event and for the band. It took me a while to decide what I wanted out of this graphic, but I think it’s a nice mix of [...]
Drawn by a severely disabled person, diabetic who suffered a stroke mid-etch-a-wheel turn, or a little kid? I’m not sure. One thing, however, is certain… it’s Spocktacular!
Ready for another round of horrible Spock drawings? Check this one out!
What if Spock were a zombie? ZombiePortraits.com dares to wonder. Go on, check it out and see what else you can find, there.
This particular installment is from the blog Bad Spock Drawings. And, man… there sure are some awful ones, there!
Man, I thought these guys were crazy old way back when this photo was taken, but then I see Leonard Nimoy in film & on TV this year, too?! I’d hate to smell them crusty old farts…
Can’t you just see Spock thinking, “WTF is this thing? It’s made of paper and has crap written all over it. Am I supposed to count with it or figure out angles or measure or… GDI I give up!!!”
Why all the arguing between McCoy and Spock? Also, which one is the woman of the relationship? … I think we all know.
There’s nothing a completely logical Vulcan loves more than plants that make music when you molest them.
